Omnitracs parent acquiring Spireon

Omnitracs parent company Solera is set to acquire Spireon, one of North America’s largest device-independent telematics and connected vehicle intelligence companies.

Solera, a global provider of integrated vehicle lifecycle and fleet management software-as-a-service, data and services, expects to leverage Spireon's 24/7 asset tracking capabilities as it seeks to position itself as a major provider of AI-powered software, services and data assets to four critical pillars of the commercial vehicle lifecycle (claims, repair, vehicle solutions and fleet solutions).

Spireon currently serves more 13,000 customers in the automotive, fleet, trailer and asset sectors with nearly 4 million connected devices that generate over 900 billion discrete data points on its cloud native IoT platform annually, helping customers in these sectors track, manage and protect their assets. Its product suite includes Goldstar, LoJack (which was revived just last year) and FleetLocate and joins Solera's other tech-forward holdings like SmartDrive, a video-based safety and transportation intelligence platform.

Just seven months ago, Solera acquired Omnitracs and also picked up DealerSocket, a developer of software for automotive dealers, and digital driver risk management firm eDriving, moves that at the time Dejanovic said enhanced the company's "end-to-end vehicle lifecycle solutions for customers and bridge the gap between vehicle and driver performance on a global scale."
